Maisie, or Miss Mae; Is thriving!  She is a playful girl, who will do anything for a tennis ball or a treat. She gets so excited about those things she has a hard time sitting still and will wiggle and talk while she waits! Sometimes all her excitement comes out in play and she forgets social graces, but with reminders and redirection quickly remembers her manners. She kennels on command, and knows come, sit, stay, off, shake and wait.  She's a dog who needs her playtime, and some time to run around outside each day to be happy and content. When she plays she will play hard, but when it's over she absolutely loves basking in the sun and will wander the house looking for a bright spot to stretch out in. In the evening she turns into a perfect movie watching (or tv show marathon) dog who is equally happy cuddling next to you on the couch, or laying in her bed occupying herself with a toy.

Hi, I'm Maisie!  My favorite things are to chew on bones, toys, rawhide, or anything that keeps me occupied.  I've been told I'm a very sweet girl and cute girl.  My humans adore my underbite smile because it makes me special!

Sometimes I get excited and playful so they call me "Crazy Maisie" and we go outside to throw the ball!  I love playing in the back yard.  Inside they call me "Lazy Maisie" because I prefer to be snuggling with my humans or chewing on bones.  I like to be in the same room as my humans while they're home because I miss them while they're gone.

I don't mind being in my kennel and am learning not to pull on a leash.  They told me I'm getting really good!  I like kids very much and have no problems around them, but sometimes I need my space around other dogs.  I respond very well to a strong leader.  I really don't like when other dogs growl at me, so it's important to re-direct me right away and limit instances when that might happen.  It is usually over a bone or toy.  When other dogs growl trying to protect a bone or toy I react quickly, but I also re-direct quickly when I'm told no or to leave it.

I can't wait to find a home and humans of my own!  I promise to be a very loyal and loving girl for my new family.  How can you say no to a smile like mine!?!

Our Miss Mae has been amazing. She is great with the kids, doesn't bark (seriously) and does well on leash with a harness. She loves her ball, and definitely loves her chew toys. She enjoys cuddle time, and wants nothing more than to share as much space with you as possible. Maisie kennels easily and hardly ever whines about it. She even goes into her kennel by herself to relax and chew on a treat or toy!

Maisie does tend to get overwhelmed by un-mannered dogs, or obnoxious dogs if a strong leader is not present. She needs gentle but firm redirects and responds well to them. Her family will have to have strong leadership or super passive dogs for her to be comfortable. Growling seems to be a big trigger for her. I started watching her for reactivity, and her mannerisms and have been successful in avoiding further conflicts with her redirect. Barking she doesn't care about, at all. She flat ignores it.

She's a sweet girl, and is going to be an amazing family member for the right people.
