Foster Home Feedback:

Ranger continues to improve with his anxiety and fear! He is the kind of dog that takes some time to warm up, but once he does- he keeps you in his heart forever. He is such a lover and cuddler. He'd love nothing more than a quiet home, an easy going companion dog and a family who understood he needs time to just be himself and get to know someone. He startles easily, but gets along with children. (he does bark at kids until he gets to know them moreso than adults) Gets along with *ALL* dogs. But not so much cats. He's terrified of them. Or at least was when our neighbors cat came into the yard and peed on my pumpkins. He wouldn't go near the pumpkins for a week. *lol* He is also still fearful of cat  smell , but we are working on desensitizing him to it. I have a lot of cat access to pull from! :) I'm really hoping someone pulls through for him soon, he deserves an amazing family. I know he will openly thrive given the patience, time and love!

Food: Non aggressive; super fast eater.

Kennel: Has become a safe spot and he loves it. Kennels on command and at night with no issue, will seek it in nervous situations.

Play: Plays well with dogs of all size Not toy aggressive. Not a chewer in any way.

Behavioral Concerns: While he is coming out of the shell, he is still very much skittish. His confidence is easily overcome even on a single sided block walk. Do you think I should try a thunder vest?

Physical: He had areas of injury when he arrived. When he arrived back with me he had scabbing basically everywhere under the fur and a solid limp from his leg break (that he was recovering from and had a vet check done for).  His leg is recovering well and his limp is almost gone. His gait is almost perfect.  The scabs under his fur are gone, and the fur is returning to those areas, albeit slowly. The wound on the side of his upper lip that he had upon return has healed beautifully and no longer even shows.

Ranger has done well settling back in here. Super happy guy- who needs a patient home. He is still terrified of new people, and takes a bit to warm up. He *does* bark at sounds he is unsure of as well as people he is unsure of so his "furever' home will *NEED* to be patient. He kennels well solo now, but still seems to need companionship in order to be truly comfortable. He gets along with *all* dogs he has been introduced to. He is the kind of dog, who will pick one person and bond closely if given the chance.

CATS: Still seems fearful of cats/ cat smell. I'm working on that. But he peed everywhere when presented with a cat hair/scent covered blanket.

CHILDREN:  He is patient with children, but barks at them if  he gets nervous/unsure of the situation. Even children he is fond of and comfortable with, can sometimes trigger his barking. He'll need robust children, or kids who understand to leave the dog alone.

NON RESIDENT PEOPLE/FRIENDS: Barks at people or is super skittish in yard; pacing and avoiding- (even people known to him) until he has been around them again for about 30 minutes. So, he will still need a person who can accept that he will not be the outgoing boy who jumps on everyone. Frequent visitors seem to skip the nervousness, but if they aren't a daily visit, he takes a bit.

KENNELING: Does much better with kenneling. Will kennel at night and prefers to eat in his kennel. Will kennel on command, and when uncertain tries to find his kennel as a safe place. After being kenneled for a duration of time (night time, couple hours) sometimes doesn't leave his kennel without the secondary dog prompting; or acting as a buffer between him and a person.

Ranger is such a sweet boy! He can be skittish is new surroundings but we are working hard on building his confidence now that his siblings have all been adopted. Ranger does need another dog in his forever home as he suffers from some separation anxiety when alone. Another doggy friend helps keep him calm :) Ranger is hoping he will find his forever home soon!

Yes, you read that breed right! Ranger's father was a Jack Russell and his mother was half Rottweiler and half Mastiff. Our guess is that he will weigh between 40-50 lbs but it's truly hard to say how big he will get!
