Foster Home Feedback:

6/3/15

Mia is a puppy, that is very apparent. She loves to play, loves to wrestle the other dogs, but has remained appropriate. She does get a little wild when she feeds off the other dogs' energy and will leap my couch or bound around, but a firm, stern voice snaps her back. Very seldom does she have trouble calming down, but when she does, having her kennel up and relax for a few minutes works well. She's amazing in her kennel. I wish she would teach my dogs to not bark and cry when they're in their kennel the second I walk in the door. She's a pro!

She's 100% housebroken. You have to really watch her though, she doesn't alert with sound but will make frequent passes to the door for her "alert". She had 1 accident Day 1, but I am not counting that. She was downstairs and there was no door for her to alert at. i think she was just confused, it hasn't happened since.

Mia needs one really good walk a day. She walks well on her leash and doing this really helps curb her wild side. Mia deserves a family to go to...with kids. She LOVES kids. She's been with my Rocco, he's 2, and she just loves him. She comes with for his nightly routine, lays in the bathroom during his bath, lays with him on the couch, and seems to not react if he is a little rougher than she's used to or not as direct with his words or actions. She's like the dog nanny from Peter Pan! :)

Now, for maybe a few minor problem areas. Mia is very affectionate, which is great, but when she is the new dog in the house, I worry if not placed with the right set of dogs, there could be an issue. She wants to be up in my lap/right next to her person at all times and will block my other 2 boys with her head or paw at their heads if she's able. It seems as if she is playing, but she really "fights" for attention. Slinky wasn't having any of that and some growls were exchanged. Mia responded appropriately, but that's something I will hopefully be able to help her with while she's with me.

She is a counter surfer if you don't watch. She knows she isn't supposed to and the second you give her the opportunity, she's paws up looking for whatever. She responds to her correction and if nothing is up there, she won't bother.

She growled at the cat when they first met, she's curious about them, but with a watchful eye and some time getting used to one another, she is a non-issue. She met a turkey and went hysterical. No turkey farms for Mia. She is terrified of horses (even the mini pony), she wouldn't even look their direction, but has been friendly with every other dog she has met so far...which is 5.

She will bark if she hears or thinks she hears something, but nothing incessant. She's good alert like all dogs should be. She travels well in the car and was appropriate with the visitors we had over the other day.

All in all, she is a great girl with a few minor quirks. :D

Do you like long walks, snuggling, and lots of belly rubbing?  If so, I am the dog for you! I love to play with everyone and everything.  I have 3 other dogs in my foster house and they all play with me.  That makes me pretty happy.   I do know some commands such as down, stay and come....but I sometimes forget to listen.

I am housebroken and I am really good about going to the door when I need to go out.  I like to chase balls and laser pointers.  I pretty much like playing...and belly rubs...Did I mention I really like belly rubs?  I am still working on my manners....I sometimes like to jump up and say hi.  I will also check out your counters occasionally.  I sleep really well in my crate at night and I'm so happy to see my foster mom in the morning.

I hope you will be my furever home and give me lots of belly rubs.
