Hi, my name is Mitzi. I am a 14 year old German Shorthair mix. I am in excellent shape for my age. I beat my aging foster mom up the stairs every single time. I love to go for walks. Sometimes I spend more time sniffing my surroundings than walking, but there’s so much to smell. I love playing catch with my toys. I like big people, little people and in-between people. I get along with other dogs and most of the time I just ignore them. 

I am well-mannered and don’t bark at people when they come to the door. I’m really not a barker at all. I don’t even bark at all the wild turkeys when they come down our street. I take lots of naps and like to be close to my fosters at night, (well, really anytime during the day, too). My best friend is Baby, the cat. She lets me know when she’s had enough of me. 

My foster mom always puts me in charge of the cat and tells me she’ll be back. She’s true to her word, so I settle in with the cat until she returns. Another quirky thing I do is take kibble from my bowl and take it into the living room and drop it on the floor to eat now or later. I’m pretty good about cleaning up my mess.

I do best with a fenced in yard. Otherwise I may wander away. My fosters do a good job of keeping me safe and happy. Oh, and I also travel well. I settle in for a nap until we get to our destination.

My perfect forever home would be a home where there isn’t a lot of commotion. My fosters are retired and their kids have grown up and moved away so things are pretty calm around here. I like being the center of attention.
